At FOOMA Japan 2009, Sanryu exhibited a revolutionary flat-bed printer that can print directly on food.
This flat-bed printer can print photos, text, illustrations, and designs on foods with uneven surfaces, such as confectionery. So it enables shops to distinguish themselves from rivals by offering original presents and the like. The ink is edible, and complies with food coloring tests under Japans food hygiene laws.
Sanryu plans to release this edible-ink printer in summer 2009, in two versions for printing in different sizes.
